An interview with Mr. Mirco Bassetta,
VAGHEGGI Global Training Director

The health industry keeps flourishing and people become more and more discerning with regard to wellness services. Traditional relaxing massages no longer meet their requirements. Modern spa guests seek treatments that are both innovative and able to offer holistic health benefits. As a result, Mirco Bassetta has pioneered the development of massage treatments that incorporate ancient health disciplines, such as combining the essence of the Five Elements from Oriental philosophy with Western techniques to develop a comprehensive massage system that addresses physical symptoms and achieves emotional healing.

As the training director of the world-renowned health and beauty brand VAGHEGGI, Mirco Bassetta visits different markets all over the world, exploring and researching the trends and consumer needs of different countries, effectively analyzing the spa environment, and developing and updating massage systems in real time to meet market demand. He has developed two famous massage systems – R.D.R Massage System and LIGNUM Massage System, which are widely applied in the global market. SpaChina interviewed Mirco Bassetta to hear him share his experience in massage system development and training, as well as his insights into the global wellness market.

Can you tell us about your journey in the spa and wellness industry? What inspired you to pursue this career path?

It was a path undertaken about 20 years ago when I started attending a vocational training institute in Alessandria in Italy. It was a passion that grew over time but that I always had and was passed on to me by my mom who has been in the wellness industry for over 40 years. During my studies, I started working in spas and resorts that allowed me to deal with a very demanding and constantly growing market.

At the age of 23, I was responsible for the wellness part of a wellness center that led me to discover new proposals and new markets so that I moved to Milan at the age of 26 where I began to deepen my studies in shiatsu and macrobiotics, a path that lasted 5 years. In the meantime I worked as a wellness manager in a beauty salon, but I felt that my path was elsewhere … I met up with Vagheggi, a leading company in the phytocosmetic sector, and my collaboration and my journey as a trainer began. I still continue to deepen and perfect new massage techniques, always trying to satisfy the market’s demand.

As someone with expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Macrobiotics, how have these ancient practices influenced your work in developing modern spa treatments?

The study of traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu and Macrobiotics have helped me a lot in the development of various modern innovative techniques. The study of these ancient disciplines has allowed me to discover not only the physical aspect of things but above all the energetic aspect, helping me to have a more complete vision. Today it allows me to develop treatments and massages that aim not only to solve problems of an aesthetic nature but offering complete well-being at 360 degrees.

What are some of the most significant trends you’ve observed in the global spa and wellness industry recently? How do you see these trends evolving in the coming years?

The spa sector globally is constantly evolving. The reason is that each SPA has needs and skills based on the type of clientele. For example, a SPA in Mexico has different trends and requirements from a SPA in Turkey or China. What unites SPAs all over the world is certainly the search for new wellness techniques to fully satisfy the consumer.

The customer who goes to the SPA is a demanding customer, constantly looking for novelties that can satisfy not only the need for relaxation but also their curiosity. The most advanced centers are able to guarantee an optimal service to the consumer thanks to research and continuous training on market trends.

Trends are sometimes momentary, dictated by fashion, time and season, but there are pillar treatments in the world of wellness that will struggle to fade.

Personalization in spa treatments is becoming increasingly popular. How do you incorporate customization into the treatments and massage systems you develop?

Personalization of treatments is our main goal, this allows us to respond to all consumers needs. We are not talking about a standard treatment, but rather a tailored suit that is specifically worn for a special need.

In the development of new massage techniques, we try to respond to different physical characteristics. In the training courses, we invite the operator to empathize and listen to the customer’s needs. This is the true essence of massage.

You’ve developed the R.D.R. Massage and LIGNUM Massage, which are applied in many wellness resorts and spas. Could you share the philosophy behind these systems and how they meet the diverse needs of clients?

Both types of massage are inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine. The lignum massage, a technique that was used in ancient China but now lost, is a type of Columbian massage. The use of beech wood tools allow us to treat not only the aesthetic imperfections of the body, but induce the psychophysical rebalancing of the customer.

The main characteristic of the R.D.R. massage is manual movements that represent the energetic movement of the Five Elements (water, wood, fire, earth, metal). Each individual has an energetic sphere that encompasses all the elements, but these are not always in balance with each other. The massage aims to rebalance every single element, bringing benefits both physically and spiritually.

As the Global Training Director at VAGHEGGI, how do you ensure that your training programs stay relevant and effective in different markets around the world?

For VAGHEGGI, it is of fundamental importance that the programs are carried out in an optimal way to ensure effectiveness and benefit, so our training department is in close contact with all departments around the world. Depending on the type of market, training weeks are scheduled throughout the year both in our headquarters in Italy and in the markets that host us.

Can you describe the process of integrating the essence of the Five Elements from Oriental philosophy into your massage systems? How does this approach enhance the client’s spa experience?

In the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of the fundamental pillars is the Tao, the union of Yin and Yang, two complementary and opposite energies that create everything. The transformation of Yin into Yang and vice versa undergoes processes that are associated with energy movements that take up the elements present in nature (water, wood, fire, earth and metal).

In massage, each manual skill is associated with an element. For example, the water movement will suggest fluctuating techniques, the fire stimulating ones, the metal deep ones, etc…

This was created not only to instill well-being but to bring an energetic balance and restore harmony between the elements present in every living being. The client receiving the treatment will have an awareness of their body and their energetic consciousness.

What is your vision for the future of spa and wellness training? How do you plan to continue evolving your training business in this field?

There is no professionalism without training, and the world of SPA and Wellness requires training and knowledge to cope with an increasingly expert clientele in the sector. The future of this world will be based on continuous knowledge and continuous training. Like everyone, I will continue to deepen my studies in order to share my experience with the whole world.

With your extensive experience in different markets and cultures, what has been the most rewarding part of your career so far?

The most important gratification I have had in these years of work is being able to see, learn, compare, create and share with people from all over the world; approaching different markets, different nationalities and cultures fills my heart with joy and makes me look forward to always facing new challenges.

Wellness tourism is on the rise, especially in markets like China. How do you see this trend influencing the future of luxury spas and resort treatments?

In an absolutely positive way. After a long dark period, the moment of rebirth has finally arrived, and the whole world perceives it. Wellness tourism is constantly increasing and this is great for the Chinese market. There will be an increase in demand for wellness treatments in spas and resorts and at that point the market will have to be ready to deal with this demand. The advice I can give is to invest a lot in training and knowledge, only this will allow us to better face this precious period.

Interview with Ms. Joy Zeng, Founder of AEVUM

“As the founder and managing director of the company, I have always believed in the concept of ‘Respect for Nature and Law of Nature’, which has permeated all levels of the company’s management and development planning, and has deeply influenced its core values and future development direction.” Ms Joy Zeng, Founder of AEVUM, told SpaChina.

“We focus on combining the latest technological innovations with the traditional laws of nature to continuously improve the quality of our products and services. At the same time, we also respect the natural laws of competition within the industry, adhere to fair competition, uphold the principle of honesty and integrity, and establish a good corporate reputation and brand image.”

With more than 20 years of experience, this elegant lady, Ms. Joy Zeng, who used to be in charge of the general agent of the world’s top luxury spa professional skincare brand in China, established her own AEVUM brand in 2010, with the co-operation of CINQ MONDES, Swissline, Natura Bissé, LPG and her own essential oil brand ORiNERGiE. The word ‘AEVUM’ is derived from the Latin word for “good life”, a symbol of quality of life and elegance.

Please share the market trends and changes you have observed in the last two years.

The spa and wellness industry in China has changed significantly over the past two years, reflecting shifts in consumer behaviour and preferences. One of the most striking trends is that consumers have become more rational and prudent. They pay more attention to substance in their choices and tend to favour essence over superficial appeal. This change in consumer attitudes has led the spa industry to pay more attention to the intrinsic value of services, and guests are seeking a deeper connection with the brand’s cultural connotations and operational strengths.

Secondly, the growing demand for quality is driving spa owners to re-evaluate their services to ensure they meet the changing expectations of their clients. Today’s consumers are not only looking for luxurious and aesthetically pleasing environments, but also want to experience treatments that resonate with their personal values and contribute to their overall well-being. Customers are increasingly choosing spas that offer clear wellness goals and have a clear brand philosophy.

Spa guests are increasingly attracted to spa experiences that not only address their physical needs, but also their mental and spiritual well-being, and want to balance the stresses of life with treatments that promote inner peace and emotional well-being. We can see that treatments that incorporate positive thinking, meditation and other therapies designed to nourish the mind and spirit have become quite popular in the last two years. This suggests that consumers are not just looking for physical relaxation, but also for inner harmony and personal growth.

In response to these changes, spa owners and operators are increasingly focusing on how to create environments and experiential programmes that support this holistic wellness philosophy, ensuring that they are able to deliver services that meet the higher expectations of today’s consumers; and emphasise their unique brand story and cultural values to stand out in a competitive marketplace; and create a stronger emotional connection with their clients to further promote customer loyalty and long term engagement, etc.

What do you see as the future trends that will lead consumers to beauty, spa and wellness?

Nature and technology will be the focus of the future. People will be looking for efficient, fun, innovative and meaningful experiences at work and in certain areas, more natural and environmentally friendly products and methods in their daily lives, a healthier and more disciplined lifestyle, and a greater tendency to explore the meaning of life and the philosophy of beauty.

The application of technology in beauty and health will also continue to expand. Guests expect more efficient and personalised beauty and health management through advanced technology. For example, customised skincare solutions based on artificial intelligence, biotechnology-driven anti-ageing treatments, and the proliferation of smart health devices will all be key trends in the future. These technological innovations will not only enhance the user experience, but also help them manage their health and beauty more precisely.

The other side of the coin is nature. I think on the inner level there will be more focus on mental and spiritual health, with an emphasis on maintaining harmony between the body and the mind through a healthy lifestyle, such as regular work and rest, a balanced diet and moderate exercise. There will also be an increased interest in philosophies that explore the meaning of life and beauty. They will seek natural and effective products that provide balance between body and mind, and programmes and services that embrace the wisdom of traditional culture and wellness to help them find inner peace and contentment in their fast-paced lives.

What’s your company’s strategy for the current and next three years?

In the next three years, we will take “nature and technology” as our core policy, and through product innovation, technology-driven, all-round health promotion and market education, we will comprehensively lead the development of the beauty and health industry and meet the ever-changing needs of consumers.

For example, through the introduction of the internationally renowned brand CINQ MONDES from Paris, we have taken dermatological nutrition as the core direction of product research and development. The brand is based on science, and through in-depth research on the nutritional needs of the skin, it has developed a series of highly effective products that can meet the needs of different skin types, provide optimal nutritional support for the skin, and satisfy consumer demand for safe, effective beauty products that are in line with the concept of nature.

In the research and development of treatments, we have developed a series of unique treatments and healing techniques that combine the natural laws of the universe, the rotation of the seasons, and the medical theory of the natural laws of the human body. Through the natural healing effects of plant energy, we help people return their body and mind to their inner balance and restart their energy through natural therapies.

Adhering to the tenet of “technology-driven personalised service”, we are able to provide tailor-made skincare and health management programmes for each client through advanced skin testing technology and artificial intelligence analysis. These programmes combine the client’s personal data with scientific research to ensure that each step of the treatment is optimised and perfectly matched to the client’s unique needs. The treatments are complemented by the latest technological instruments and follow a philosophy of safety, efficiency and comfort to achieve results that cannot be achieved manually. This demonstrates not only the importance of technological innovation, but also our ability to provide personalised and sophisticated services.

We aim to lead the industry in meeting the ever-changing needs of consumers.

What is your style in daily business management?

In the daily operation and management of the company, I emphasise following the laws of nature and advocate people-oriented management concepts. I am committed to creating a healthy and harmonious working environment for my staff, focusing on their physical and mental health and balanced development. Through a flexible working system and rich employee benefits, we encourage our employees to find a balance between work and life and stimulate their creativity and enthusiasm for work. In addition, we respect individual differences and encourage diversity in team building, so that every employee can find his or her own place in the organisation and give full play to his or her maximum potential.

What are your thoughts and opinions on women female entrepreneurs?

I hope every woman can believe in her own value and bravely pursue her dreams. Regardless of their circumstances, they have the ability to break through barriers and realise their self-worth. Women may face various challenges and prejudices in the workplace and entrepreneurship, but as long as they remain confident and continue to learn and improve themselves, they are able to break through the ceiling and achieve success.

While pursuing our careers, we also need to learn to balance work and life and take care of our physical and mental health. Pay careful attention to your inner needs and find a work-life balance. Only on the premise of physical and mental health can we better realise our potential and achieve success in the true sense of the word.

In career and life, we should not only pursue external success, but also focus on inner peace and fulfilment. Learn to listen to your heart and find what truly makes you happy and fulfilled in order to achieve true happiness and fulfilment.

We women have a unique perspective and creative thinking, and that’s where we come in. I encourage every woman to be brave enough to break out of the confines of tradition and explore new areas and opportunities. Don’t be afraid to try and don’t be afraid to fail, because every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Innovation is at the heart of progress, and women have unlimited potential in this regard.

In addition, support and solidarity among women is very important. We should encourage and support each other. We can grow individually and collectively through mutual support and cooperation, sharing of experiences and mutual benefits in our careers and personal lives. Only with each other’s support can women maximise their strength and create more miracles.

The path of life is full of challenges and uncertainties, but perseverance and resilience are the keys to success. As women, we may face more questions and pressure, but these should not be a reason for us to give up. On the contrary, we have to face difficulties with greater determination and perseverance, not giving up lightly, and ultimately welcome the success that belongs to us.

I hope that through my experience and efforts, I can inspire more women to bravely pursue their dreams, find their own path, and move forward firmly on that path to achieve for themselves and influence others.

Insights from Industry Leaders,
interview with four wellness and spa experts in China

Over the decades, the spa and wellness industry in China has undergone remarkable transformations. To delve into these changes and the industry’s future, SpaChina has brought together four distinguished figures from the sector for an insightful discussion. Georgie Yam, Guo Jian, Johnny Chang and Tony Cheung – each a key player in the evolution of spa practices in China – share their perspectives on the sector’s growth, emerging trends, and challenges.

From the rise of sophisticated city spas that rival five-star hotel offerings to the growing acceptance of local designs and services, the industry has seen dramatic shifts. These experts reflect on how consumer demands have evolved, embracing more personalized and technology-driven treatments while exploring the role of branding in a competitive market. They also discuss future trends, including the impact of Generation Z, and the ongoing importance of health and wellness in a post-pandemic world.

This conversation not only highlights the dynamic progress of China’s spa industry but also offers valuable insights for those looking to understand or enter this thriving market.

Over the decades, you’ve seen the spa industry evolve in China. What are some of the most significant changes you’ve witnessed?

Georgie: The transformation has been incredible. When I first started, spas in five-star hotels offered just basic treatments with limited international products. Today, they provide a broad range of advanced beauty and body treatments. The day spa scene has changed even more dramatically. What were once simple foot massage shops have evolved into full-service day spas, offering everything from beauty treatments to TCM therapies. It’s heartwarming to see how far the industry has come – some day spas now rival five-star hotel spas in quality and service.

Tony: The Spa guests do not only look for foreign designed and serviced spas, but they also accept local design and services by local staff.

Guo Jian: The demands of spa consumers are becoming increasingly diverse and personalized, along with the widespread application of technological methods in the spa industry. This includes customized services tailored to different skin types, body types, ages, and genders, as well as comprehensive spa experiences that combine traditional Chinese medicine, yoga, meditation, high-tech equipment, and various technical approaches.

Johnny: The first trend is personalized services, which are increasingly in demand by customers. After the pandemic, customers no longer just seek physical improvements from treatments but also want to address psychological issues, such as stress and depression. Secondly, there has been a shift in customers’ preferences for treatments. Fifteen years ago, customers tended to prefer longer treatment sessions. However, as millennial customers gradually become the main consumer group, the majority now opt for shorter, more efficient treatment options that deliver quick results and provide both physical and psychological benefits. This undoubtedly presents a significant change and challenge for traditional spa and wellness operators like us.

In your opinion, what are the key factors that have driven the development of the spa industry in China?

Guo Jian: The steady economic growth and consumption upgrade over the past 20 years have provided a solid economic foundation for the development of the spa industry. Additionally, continuous improvements and innovations in services and technology have enhanced the quality and effectiveness of spa treatments. Of course, the intense market competition and increasingly refined laws and regulations have also contributed to the industry’s growth.

Georgie: Chinese consumers have become more discerning, especially after experiencing quality lifestyles abroad. As their income and expectations grew, they began seeking out better service and unique spa concepts at home. This shift has driven spa operators to elevate their offerings, creating more personalized and luxurious experiences to meet these new demands.

Johnny: The changes in customer demographics and demands are definitely driving forces behind the industry’s growth.

Tony: There are no short cuts to success, and no luck on our way. It is because we are smart, quick to learn and very hard working.

What role do you think branding plays in the success of a spa business in China, compared to other global markets?

Tony: Spa business is still new in China, customers are attracted by the Brand and trust the brand before they spend their time investigating the product.

Georgie: Branding is everything. Chinese consumers do their homework – they check reviews and gather information before stepping into any spa. A strong brand tells your story, showcases your strengths, and builds trust. Engaging with KOLs and creating memorable offline experiences can really set you apart. In the end, investing in your brand always pays off in China.

Johnny: Brand building is crucial for any industry. With increasing market competition, the blurring of business models, and changes in consumer behavior, shaping and developing a brand has become more challenging than ever. It’s time to assess whether our brand image has evolved in line with the changing market demands. Brand awareness reflects the quality of service, the competence of the staff, and the reliability of treatments and products. Customers trust and choose a spa brand because they believe we can help improve and resolve their issues.

Guo Jian: In China, brand building plays a vital role in the success of spa businesses. It enhances consumer awareness and trust, boosts market competitiveness, and helps establish long-term, stable relationships with consumers through branding. This, in turn, increases repeat purchases and strengthens word-of-mouth marketing.

With your experience in working with various spa equipment and product companies, what are the current trends in spa products that are most popular in China?

Johnny: The products most popular among our Chinese customers are those that are safe and natural in composition, deliver quick results, and feel good on the skin, while also addressing both physical and psychological issues. Another crucial aspect that must be emphasized is the importance of brand after-sales service. Poor after-sales service from some brands has led to disastrous outcomes.

Georgie: Chinese consumers still prioritize skin whitening, brightening, and body contouring. Non-invasive treatments like cryotherapy and muscle stimulators are in demand because they deliver quick results. It’s all about offering what the market wants while staying ahead of trends. Compliance is key.

Tony: Now and in the future, health and wellness products will become the most popular in China. It’s essential to understand the social class and specific needs of your spa customers and then offer health products that match their demands.

Guo Jian: The development trends of spas and their products in China are diverse and dynamic. Key trends include personalized customization, the integration of technology with nature, green and sustainable development, and the blending of online and offline experiences.

Looking ahead, what do you see as the future trends in the spa industry in China?

Tony: In the future, we will no longer rely on foreign investment but will increasingly invest abroad. Our business areas, such as hardware design and project training, will no longer depend on imports. Instead, we will gradually expand our services internationally, particularly in regions like the Middle East and other Asian countries.

Georgie: Generation Z is reshaping the spa experience. They crave energy and engagement, not just relaxation. With their fast-paced lives, they’re looking for quick, effective solutions for both mental and physical well-being. Spas that focus on holistic health – mental, physical, and spiritual – will thrive in the future. AI diagnostics and wellness staycations could make the spa experience more meaningful.

Johnny: The development trend in the spa and wellness industry will increasingly move towards personalized services that address the physical, psychological, and spiritual needs of clients. Centers that truly listen to customer needs and offer reasonably priced treatments and products will undoubtedly have a bright future.

Guo Jian: To meet the increasingly diverse needs of consumers, the spa industry will continue to introduce a wide range of services. In addition to traditional beauty and massage services, the industry will expand into areas such as fitness, rehabilitation, traditional Chinese medicine, holistic wellness, and outdoor activities. Moreover, cross-industry integration will become a major highlight, with deep collaborations between spas and sectors like tourism, hospitality, and healthcare, working together to create comprehensive health service platforms.

How do you think the concept of wellness will continue to evolve in China, especially in the post-pandemic era?

Tony: People are more concerned with their health and willing to spend more time and money to participate in wellness treatments.

Guo Jian: In the post-pandemic era, health concepts in China will continue to deepen and evolve. There will be a comprehensive enhancement in people’s health awareness, with greater emphasis on disease prevention and mental health. These changes will lead to various positive health behavior modifications, such as healthier eating, regular sleep patterns, and moderate exercise. At the same time, the health industry will experience rapid development and transformation.

Georgie: The pandemic has made people more introspective, seeking balance and meaning in life. Generation Z, in particular, is blending work with play and exploring local cultures. Spas should embrace this trend by offering localized treatments that highlight the uniqueness of their region. Creating memorable, shareable experiences is key – being original and authentic will make your spa stand out.

Johnny: According to a 2020 survey by the World Health Organization (WHO), the global incidence of depression and anxiety increased by 25%, with 35% of adults worldwide suffering from insomnia, and the number is even higher in mainland China at 38%. This impact is expected to last for at least 20 years. Our health industry can help reduce mental and psychological stress through various therapeutic methods such as meditation, mindfulness, and aromatherapy, improving sleep quality, skin condition, and muscle health. After all, prolonged mental and psychological stress is a major cause of insomnia, decreased immunity, and damage to the skin’s natural barrier, leading to premature aging.

After all these years in China’ Spa and Wellness industry, what are you most proud of in your career?

Tony: In the 30 years, I, personally, leading my team, including my son and my daughter to learn from different experts all over the world, and actively participate in the development of  the spa industry inside China, starting from introducing What is Spa, to designing and building different spa centers, and upgrading the industry.

Guo Jian: Having worked in the medical field for over thirty years and in yoga culture promotion and life care for more than twenty years, I have dedicated myself to promoting health, beauty, and love. After being diagnosed with breast cancer at age 50, I embraced life with renewed vigor and actively became a Pink Ribbon Ambassador in China. Despite the passage of time and health challenges, my enthusiasm for my work has never waned. For the past decade, I have consistently contributed to the spa and health industry in China. Now, at 70, I will continue to use my wisdom and love to create an ageless life, honor the art of love, and promote the beauty of life, contributing to a bright future for China’s health industry.

Johnny: What I am most proud of is having taught several world-renowned skincare brands, hotel spas, and city spa owners and teams essential customer communication and personalized service skills. This has led to significant improvements in their profitability. Customer retention rates and conversion rates have averaged 88% and 33%, respectively, and customer satisfaction with brand services has risen to 4.98 out of 5.

Georgie: I’m proud of creating jobs for around 1,000 employees and helping 30 of them work overseas, improving their lives and their families’ well-being. With the successful stories, I was very proud to be invited by Stanford University and Maryland University in the US as a speaker on their EMBA tour in China, also I have been selected by Hong Kong University to be their business case study about entrepreneurship in China for 2 consecutive years. These achievements have brought me immense satisfaction.

What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs who want to enter the spa industry in China today?

Tony: Spend more time and effort on creating and developing our Spa Concept and style with more Chinese elements.

Guo Jian: This industry is undoubtedly a service-driven field. Entering the market amid intense competition requires starting with the most fundamental elements: focusing on consumer needs and feedback and providing the highest quality service with the best cost-performance ratio. As long as the service quality is maintained, brand awareness can be expanded and business development achieved through diverse marketing channels.

Georgie: Be original. Don’t just copy what’s popular – create something unique that truly resonates with your clients. Always think about how you can enrich their experience rather than what you can take from it.

Johnny: Focusing on both personal health and the brand design and image of a spa business is crucial. While investing in fixed installations, decorative accessories, treatment development, mechanical equipment, and product selection, as well as training for treatments and products, is certainly necessary, it is not enough to maximize return on investment. If the interpersonal skills and personalized service protocols for the entire team at the spa and wellness center are neglected, the owner may unknowingly be losing valuable investments every day.

Can you share a memorable moment or collaboration you’ve had with SpaChina Magazine over the years?

Tony: For almost 20 years, I witness SpaChina, led by Fifi, guiding the industry and escalating to a world renowned organization. SpaChina is a platform for the industry to learn, to share and to improve together.

Johnny: The most memorable collaborations are always when I receive an invitation from SpaChina to share industry experiences at their summit. SpaChina’s insights are consistently ahead of the market; they always choose topics for me to discuss that address urgent market needs or are most relevant to the needs of health and spa owners, teams, and clients. I have participated in SpaChina summits since the first one, and I always remember receiving excellent feedback after each sharing session, which makes me very proud. Over the past 20 years, many industry professionals and businesses have grown and witnessed changes in the industry alongside SpaChina.

Guo Jian: I have served as a judge at several SpaChina awards ceremonies and have had the opportunity to interact with many five-star hotel spas and city spas in China. I have observed that each hotel spa and city spa has its own cultural and brand charm, showcasing their unique features through specific treatment programs. Many of these programs incorporate traditional Eastern wellness concepts and techniques, effectively achieving relaxation and stress relief. I also see professional management and the dedication and sense of fulfillment expressed by the staff. I am committed to serving the industry, empowering spa platforms, and sharing my knowledge and experience with colleagues. I aim to bring the concepts and knowledge learned at the annual SpaChina summit to more people, helping them to love life, take responsibility for their well-being, and live a life of quality and vitality.

Georgie: One of my fondest memories is from 20 years ago when a young editor interviewed me for SpaChina. Back then, it was just a small publication. Today, SpaChina is a leader in our industry, just like that young editor now is the editor-in-chief, who has grown and evolved alongside it. It’s been a beautiful journey for both of us and for our friendship.
