An interview with Mr. Alexandre Vacher, CEO of Laboratoire Sintyl
Physiodermie and Physiocoiffeur, the two brands of Laboratoire Sintyl, provide customized, full-dimensional and luxury care for the skin and scalp. “The past is gone, and the future is at present” is the belief of Laboratoire Sintyl. It aims to prevent potential problems of the skin and scalp by addressing their conditions in the present.
Mr. Alexandre Vacher, who has many years of experience in the biotechnology and cosmetic industry, is CEO of Laboratoire Sintyl. Since he joined Sintyl in 2016, he has brought new energy to Sintyl and actively expanded the international market. SpaChina interviewed Mr. Vacher.
Please give us a brief introduction of the foundation story of Laboratoire Sintyl.
Our Laboratory was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, 1974 by Dr Calato, a Swiss biologist who was passionate about the use of plant molecules for skin health. He was a visionary, seeking for functional cosmetics with the use of natural ingredients, abundant in Switzerland. Since the beginning, we do everything in-house, from research until production, allowing us to provide the best quality to our customers.
What are the concepts and core technologies of Physiodermie? What are your star products?
Throughout these 47 years of research, our scientific team has developed strong know-how in formulating performance skincare. Our proprietary technology of Micro-Encapsulation (MEIMA) is unique: by entrapping the active ingredients into a liposome capsule, they are protected and delivered at the right layer of the skin, precisely where the cells need them most. Our best-seller is the Recovery Night Mask, a powerful anti-aging and skin brightening night cream enriched with stabilized Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and micro-encapsulated Peptides. As a cosmeceutical brand, we only rely on scientifically proven ingredients.
How does Physiodermie define personalization?
Physiodermie has been a pioneer in the field of personalization: our first personalized serums were launched in the 1980s, aiming at providing a targeted response to a skin concern. Physiodermie boasts a clinical approach of skincare in 3 steps: 1) a comprehensive diagnostic; 2) the right formulas for the right skin concern, used in synergies; 3) the right massage techniques to potentialize the efficacy of the formulas. That is why Physiodermie is sold only in spas, medispas, clinics and salons where practioners are trained by us to become Dermo-Therapists.
What are the top skincare concerns in China and how does Physiodermie solve them? What are the skincare trends in China’s market and will Physiodermie update its products accordingly?
In my opinion, the top skincare concern in China is pigmentation. As skin is aging, brown spots tend to appear and are difficult to deal with. Physiodermie offers a wide variety of skincare to prevent and correct age spots and keep melanin production, responsible for brown spots, under control. Our Dark Spot Corrector is a fantastic tool to improve skin fairness and uniformity.
In terms of trends, I predict a boom in demand of certified Organic skincare. Physiodermie’s latest development is the Clinical Swiss Organic collection, a range of 12 face skincare cosmeceuticals approved by Ecocert. Our concept is simple, yet revolutionary: we use scientifically-proven ingredients such as AHAs, BHAs, Superoxyde Dismutase, Hyaluronic Acid or Vitamine A, in Certified Organic formulas.
Why do you think scalp-care can be as essential as skincare in our daily life? What are the core concepts and technologies of Physiocoiffeur? What treatment scope does Physiocoiffeur cover?
It is proven: scalp reflects, even more than facial skin, all the negative aspects of our busy lifestyle: stress, food, smoking, sleeping disorder, etc. causing scalp to age prematurely and to become quickly irritated. As a consequence, hair loses its density and vitality.
Physiocoiffeur is probably the most advanced scalp-care brand in the world: we have formulas to target the cause of each scalp concern: hair aging, hair loss, dandruff, itchy scalp, dry scalp, oily scalp, thinning hair, etc.
Will Physiocoiffeur be welcomed at spas? How can Physiocoiffeur’s products and treatments be integrated into spa services so as to offer customers a more comprehensive health experience? Could you give any suggestions?
Physiocoiffeur treatments are a fantastic opportunity for spas. First of all, they allow them to target new clientele, such as men, with strong purchasing power. Moreover, Physiocoiffeur requires regular sessions to achieve results, generating traffic onto the point of sale and customer loyalty, both for salon treatments and home-use products. Treatments do not require any specific equipment or machine; therefore the initial investment is minimal and return is almost immediate. Our n°1 suggestion is the Physiocoiffeur Scalp Peeling: a professional-only treatment to slough-off all dead cells and residues on the scalp, allowing hair to grow better. This 45-minute protocol leaves the client with a purified scalp and ready to proceed with the appropriate home-use scalp-care ritual.
